so ive got a 2008 honda accord with a back dash subwoofer thats, well, not great. i dont want to install an amp, i dont even want to remove the old one. in the trunk i was thinking of just cutting the wire harness and hooking up a speaker in a box.
TC-8034 8" Treated Paper Cone Woofer with Foam Surround 4 Ohm
4 ohm, 95db efficiency, more rms than the amp will put out. i was going to put it in a 2.4 cu.ft. box tuned to 36hz-40hz. somewhere around there. not trying to shake the paint off or anything here, just a good improvement.
thoughts?

Sensitivity is 95 dB / 2 watts so 92 dB / 1 watt. Xmax is 4 mm which is quite low for a subwoofer. Several low priced 8" woofers with a much larger Xmax are available, for example the Omnes Audio W8-670z (12 mm Xmax) Lautsprecher Shop | Omnes Audio W8-670Z | Lautsprecher Selbstbau
When 2.4 cu ft. is available a larger woofer might also fit.
What amplifier power is available?
