You guys are in for a treat. I hope you have a standard F5 to compare to🙂
I hope you share your impressions and the comparison! 🙂
I envy those of you that have built other amp projects and have some frame of reference. This is a whole new level for me. Comparison will be to my current (old) Yamaha power amps. This will be the first thing I have built since my haflers in the 80s. By comparison, those were super simple. ...and it probably wouldn't happen now if it weren't for this type of help. Thanks!
kit and mosfet group buy
I'm coming back after many month. I signed up for mosfets previously and am seeing the sign up sheet for kit and mosfets are still open. Is the 2nd group buy on?

Folks:
Buzzforb's large and weighty box arrived at my home a couple of days ago and I'd just like to publicly applaud him for all of the hard work and terrific parts choices. Group buys are usually a great opportunity, but Buzzforb made available to the group parts that would have, under any other circumstance, been way out of my price range. It is also worth mentioning that the parts were very nicely packaged with enough bubblewrap to keep a room full of small kids entertained for an hour (okay, maybe 20 minutes, but still a long time).
My F5T build efforts will, by intention, lag behind the efforts of the more intelligent and inventive amongst you, since I have no idea what I'm doing and really need (and depend on) all the guidance I can get. But please don't delay too long -- that box sings its siren song to me every time I walk past it.
Kudos and many, many thanks to Justin!
Regards,
Scott

THanks for the kind words. I hope you enjoy and will happily assit in whatever way possible in your build
Got mine too! Thanks Buzz 🙂 Still plodding thru the inventory but really excited. This is forcing my hand in buying trannies and cases... and happy about recent pcb (not me) progress.
I see that TeaBag has designed his F5T PS boards for 8 220000uf caps. We received 16 10000uf PS caps in the GB. Any ideas on how to make this work other than to do a PTP PS using these caps?
Any body who needs a PSU, I can provide one as either etched board or layout for etching. Just let me know. It will only cost as much as the board copper clad board and shipping.

Over the years I have owned quite a few amps, from Audio Research to a Krell class A monster. The diy F5 that I finished this year, is the finest, at least to my ears. I anticipate that the F5T will improve upon the already impressive F5 performance. HTH!
Yay, Buzz! Awesome offer. I was wondering what options there would be to use the caps in the kits. I would love to get my hands on four of the PSU boards whenever and for however much they come available. Thanks!
The boards will be made to fit bigger nichicon caps. Of course this means Pana's will work too. I am reaaly looki g forward to 4 pair version. If it is as much of an improvement as 2 pair was over 1, it will be VERY good.
What do you mean 2 pair?two psu boards for each channel?
Then...How many trafos??and how many caps?

I guess this psu board is based on Nelson's "beefier" psu for f5t v2 schematic, right?
Why are you using transistors though?

Looking at diifetent configurations. 8 x 8" board includes diodes and caps. Will see if taking diodes off board will help. Trying to make it slimmer.
I am resolving all kits form first GB. THe new sign up sheet will go up this weekend with new pricing. The major decsision on the new GB is PSU components. I will have to gauge nterest to determine whether or not to include this. It was the major souce of delay and cost in the first GB.
If you have thoughts, let me know.
