I just want to verify my thoughts before i go spend a wad of cash on parts
I want to build a dual mono PSU for my F5 build.
Would this PSU design be appropriate for one channel? ie. i need to make two.
Also, would 2x300VA transformers be appropriate size.
Thanks

Mine wasn't dual mono but that's what I went with. That said, I would also explore CLC vs. CRC. I haven't built a CLC one but some folks prefer that route.
you could save on the dual mono PSU and have a standalone PSU with umbilicals to each monoblock. Only have to build one PSU set and much bigger trafo.
Actually, I second that. Separate PSU in general makes some things quite a bit simpler from a layout and wiring perspective. It's an extra enclosure to build though. But you won't have to worry about transformer hum.
Thanks for the replies. I will post pictures but they might be a while as i have a few projects ahead of this one and im just gathering parts.
Audio San,
What kind of heat can two of those 10.08 HS take? I have the very same thing and was wandering how far you have pushed them.

hello buzz 🙂 mine are 6" high(long) and are now consuming about 90W pr side.
but they can do ALOT more if you can spread out the heat. only half of mine get warm.
and that half only get to about 45C on the baseplate( 1cm away from the outher transistors).
so 150W pr side with good heatspread is possible 🙂 depending on your ambient temp.
mine is 22C
150W is guesswork 🙂 but i think it's close actual numbers.

Audiosan, how did you connect the two heatsinks together? Did you just mount half the fets on one sink? Would you consider it possible to use just one sink per channel, since half your sink doesn't seem to do much?
hello. they are just thight together.
no you need 2 of them. its just that the outher halfs dont got to warm.
the outputs cant carie the heat that long. if the center outputs is wired outside the boards to the last 10-12cm of the heatsink. then it can handle around 150W pr side.(dissepation)

Oh no! AudioSan, i checked out the chipamp web site and bought the psu and amp board.... i think I'm going crazy... what am i getting myself into... I'm also in a GB for the F5 turbo... how many amps is too many?
hehehehehe nrg 😀
your bit by te pass bill 😀
i have those boards too 🙂 and F5 turbo v3. and alephJ 😀 and 8x chipamp LM3886. and 2xUcD400 that i dont use yet 😀
roflol 😀

😀.
What sink would i need for that amp board i just bought? Would one of those sinks per channel 6 inches high do the job? This is too crazy... i was also thinking of a true chip amp, should be feasible after my aleph build... however, i want to be class A all the way 😀. What have i done.... 😀. You mind posting a photo of those amp boards? You havent build them yet? The boards were a steal!

hehe 😀
the boards from chipamp? you an build whatever aleph you want with them.
aleph30 you can use same sinks as i have on my F5 on "steroids" 😀
they will be perfekt in fact. you can do with 5" to. but just go for 6"
and mount the fets 2/3 from the bottom. 3 on each heatsink 🙂
