In my F5 build, I've opted to use a loudspeaker protection circuit.
Each PCB (one for each channel) contains two relays, and when in operation the two PCBs (four relays activated) draw about 140 mA at 12 VDC.
I'm considering tapping into one of the F5 PSU rails to drive the two protection boards through a small 12 VDC switching regulator IC.
I'm a litte concerned about pulling the 140 mA from one of the F5 PSU rails, and if this may "unbalance" to rails--and what impact this might have on the amp output (distortion, etc).
Is this an issue I could be concerned about?
I realize my options options are (1) winding an additional secondary coil on the torroid to attain about 8-9 VAC, or (2) installing a small transformer in addition to the F5 transformer.
Thoughts? ..........and thanks..........
