When the english language adopted capacitor as the "fashionable" term, did no other language follow suit?
Why should they? You can also say "Kapazität" (= capacity) in German (in a more abstract context)
I've fired a word war! Just a moment. I'm in a 220v country.
Between the two primaries it's a thermistore cl-60. To limit the inrush it's a capacitor (condenser).

Thermistor limits inrush, but capacitor??? It blocks current (except hum 😉 )
It's Papa's scheme for firstwatt power supply.

Is it recommended to connect the input ground to chassis?
Signal input? No. That need to be connected to PSU ground, which is elevated off the chassis by about 10ohm via the cold CL-60 thermistor.
Another F5 is born!
Well, after 6 months of slowly gathering everything, reading re-reading re-re-reading this thread and all the other wonderful info about this amplifier I could find, I have finally finished my F5! It bias'd up super easily and after playing for a day on my bench with some cheap speakers, it is now in my main system. This is the best amp I have ever used, hands down.
This was the first amp I've ever put together and I would like to thank everyone who posts here, you have been a tremendous help. I didn't ask too many questions, due to the wealth of info and all the awesome build guides. I think I read 6L6's and the main tutorial hundreds of times.

thought so, but I see that on acumos' pictureSignal input? No. That need to be connected to PSU ground, which is elevated off the chassis by about 10ohm via the cold CL-60 thermistor.

Congratulations on a successful build! It's fantastic to see people complete their projects and everything work well... It's why I make the guides.
So... you realize that an Aleph J will swap directly into that chassis/PSU very easily... 🙂 🙂 🙂 Try it, it's a very nice contrast to the F5.
Disconnect one channel from PSU and from Input and from output.
Test the hum on the ONE active channel.
What does it measure?

"... but the same old hum is present in the two channel."
Not completely clear - are you saying the second channel or two (both) channels? If it is both, check for strong electrical field from fluorescent or halogen lighting near your work area.
There are still wire pairs that can be twisted - see transformer leads (primary & secondary) in post #14115 above.
