I'd like to point to point wire my F5 power supply... Can anyone supply a schematic for one? One you've actually used?
Thanks so much,
DB

is this a standar F5? how many caps are you planning on? is it dual mono supply or one supply for 2ch.?
It is a standard F5... I would like to go dual mono on the supply.
Thanks,
DB
P.S.
Family came from Gaupne on my Dad's side, LilleHammer on my Mom's.

oh🙂
you can use this one. insted of 2.2mH coils, you can use resistors.
0.2ohm 25W power resistors, or pack of 4 1ohm 5W in parallel.
and you can get away with 6x10.000uF 35V caps.
and a 2x18V 200VA-300VA transformer pr PSU.

I don't know about a F5 service manual... I'm building the amp up point to point from the schematic in Pass's article.
The F3 supply looks solid.

its aleph3🙂 but yes it is🙂 i use the same with a more beefy cap bank on my aleph2's. and it works wonderfull🙂
also doing the same for my F5 right now. but that ones are on PCB's.

If I use the 6 cap scheme where should I locate the resistors/chokes? After the first pair?
Thanks.
Thanks.
after the first pair or sec pair. its up to you🙂 some says after first pair is the best.
others says it does not matter.
oh. forgot one thing. 2.2Kohm 5W resistors in parallel with the 4.7uF caps(2.2-4.7uF is good).
that is to bleed down the cap bank after powering down.

you don't need any front-end for F5. just a preamp with some gain.
i use a diy aleph p1.7 preamp.

I meant as preamp. i am currently going with no gain, just buffering.
I am using a B1 and don't have any need for gain. On rare occasion I will have the attenuator past 2:00.
I built my B1 with no selector switch and a Goldpoint stepped attenuator. It holds up to anything I've had in the system including my friends' Audio Research.
P.S.
Sweet picture!
