I use A EZ81 rectifier for my 10Y driver tube's on my 45 SE amp , are there other 6.3v rectifiers known that are better sounding 🙂
If possible find one which has been broken in gently by being used in an EZ80 position for about 50 hours.
...should this be encouraged?
I mean, what, if any, hard information is available at this point to make a recommendation on eg the op's power supply configuration, loading, voltages, a definition of "better" or at the least an understanding of the perceived shortcomings of the current device, ANYTHING?
Even, god forbid, some indication of the manfacturer of the existing device?
Or is it reasonable to just shuffle around in the dark throwing random recommendations out for the consumption of anyone who stumbles into the thread?

Every comment is relevant wrt sonic performance, especially to my golden ears that perceive all sounds, and with a clarity and smoothness that improves in the dark. However technically, I always recommend swapping the heater/filament wires around - that usually provides a significant improvement.
This is the one you want. It sounds the best.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

let me guess Ty - lows are lower, highs are higher, soundstage is wider and deeper and musical artifacts leap out where you have never noticed them before.
The device cancels extraneous noise from outside your listening space and books you the best seats at MSG for a reunion concert with Ella Fitzgerald and Fats Domino.
It also cures dandruff.

Conclusive evidence it must be a rebadged Mullard.
ps my baldness assures impartiality
not surprising - you probably gained 30 volts of headroom in your supply and increased the current carrying capacity to boot. Its one case where the lows will actually be measurably better...

true and I did - but the headroom remains as does the improved current capability. Both good things imho.

🙄 Hmm, lost in translation. But we're on the same page 😉
