Extracting sample frequency info from CS8414

Hi ,

I hope someone can help me with some of the questions I have regarding the best way to feed a 6.144 MHz clock to the FCK pin (13) of the CS8414 digital audio receiver.

Basically, what I am trying to do is to get the incoming digital signal's sample frequency using the F0, F1 and F2 pins of the CS8414. F0, F1 and F2 will then be connected to a microcontroller on a separate board. In order to do that, the CS8414's data sheet mentions that a 6.144 MHz clock should be sent to the FCK pin.
I thought of putting an oscillator on the microcontroller board and using that board's power supply for it. I would then connect the oscillator's output to the FCK pin on the DAC board through a wire, and connect the microcontroller board's ground, through another wire, to the DAC board's ground. I am guessing that by doing this I will be injecting some sort of noise from the microcontroller board into my DAC? Is there any way of isolating the microcontroller board from the DAC board and still use the microcontroller board's power supply for the oscillator?
Or perhaps there is another better way of going about this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Paul
