Hello
I am trying to find out the optimal setup for using external speakers when make or receiving a call with an iPhone 7 running iOS 13.4.1. An external microphone is also desirable but not essential as the iPhones inbuilt ones would suffice.
My research so far on this has led me to configuring handfree gateway on Windows 7 using blueooth. This works except for the fact that the person on the other end of the call hears themself when they speak due I think to the microphone picking up what's coming out of the speaker.
From what I can gather it would seem an off shelf solution to this problem would be a bluetooth speaker with speakerphone functionality i.e. such as these - The Best Bluetooth Speakers with Speakerphone Functionality – Review Geek
If this is the case then great however I am curious to know whether my setup can be adapted such that the microphone doesn't pickup the other person's voice when they speak. Essentially perhaps I am interested in the technology behind how this works in the phone itself or when using Skype on a computer with external microphone and speaker attached.
Many thanks!

Mostly it is done with what is called Echo Cancelling. And that is usually handheld by DSP inside the phone or inside a phone interface in the large conference calls where many mics are used.
