I think I'm going to build a subwoofer that uses an external amp in conjunction with a Richter Scale that I have laying around. Can you suggest an amp in the, oh, 200-300 watt range (8 ohm load)? -- or tell me where to look? I've googled, but I don't find much.
[I know this is a DIY forum, and I am not planning to build the amp, but I AM planning to build the subwoofer, so I hope that counts.]

250W/8R for only $159.95
About half the cost of the PE amp, and a better signal-to-noise ratio too.

There are scads of plate amps. I'm looking for an external amp.
this is on the upper-end of your price range, but its a great amp for the price. into an 8-ohm load bridged it will do around 250 watts.
