I think most designs off the net that size would be ported.
WWT just means woofer woofer treble. I'm in hospital with my newborn baby right now so I'll be busier than usual for the next few days, but happy to post some drawings of potential designs later on.

Hi nannoo thanks for your replies.
Yes thought WWT was what you said but was not quite sure.
I expect you are very busy with the new baby, congratulations and I wish you very good luck.
I am quite old in fact my oldest grandson is 25 so I know a lot about babies.
You will be very busy I am sure so dont worry about my ideas at the moment.
I should imagine that a lot of Troels 2 1/2 way designs could be switched to sealed I have WIN ISD so can run the parameters through and see what happens with a Qtc of 0.7 for the box.
I can also look for other designs on the net.

I suppose the very low qts drivers are not so good sealed.
Thanks again

There is a rule of thumb that gives you ideas for if a driver works best ported or sealed. Others may chime in differently here but my experience has been any mid woofer can be sealed not any can be ported, but the vast majority of mid woofers now days are designed with ported enclosures in mind. You could also consider porting and keeping foam bungs available to tune the sound later ( a very good idea to keep options open in DIY!).

Have you looked at the Troels SBA761 which uses the Satori drivers in a slim floor standers in a 2 1/2 way design with first order crossover on the 6”. Also there is the Discovery 861 which uses cheaper drivers again 2 1/2 way and first order on both 8” and 6” drivers.

The SBA761 is open source whereas the discovery is closed.

I am leaning towards either the Troels Discovery 861 although I would prefer slimmer.
Or the SBA16 MTM which is slimmer and when sealed gives quite a good bass response. The 861 gives even more bass when sealed but needs over 40 litres to give a qtc of 0.7 but I suppose I could use a lower volume and stuff it a bit.
Not keen on the 761 as when it is sealed and the qtc is 0.7 the bass does not go very low.
Problem is I have a sealed 12 inch sub so cannot really use ported mains.

Don't like to ask him he does not like changes being made.

Troels knows what he is doing, and there is a reason why he does not want people to change his designs. It's simple: don't change it if you want it to be good. If you don't like it as it is, look for a different design.

Changing the baffle width from 310mm to 250mm is not a small change, if you ask me. I recommend you to leave it as it is, or look for a different design that actually fits your criteria.

2 or more subs is usually good for keeping room modes down and makes intehration easier, but with something like Elsinore you might find it is best below 40-50 Hz. Or just used for atmospheric effects when wathing movies.

Probably the same deal with most of the designs suggested.

What kind of sub?

Speaking of those speakers, the line array style may be a double edged sword with regards to what to expect in parts of the spectrum affected by modes.. in particular when relinquishing the diversity of one of the dimensions at lower frequencies, even though it may be of benefit up higher.

The multiple subs can still help.

Putting a sealed 12" woofer on the side panel will allow a narrow front baffle in exchange for a deeper cabinet. The 12" SB34SWNRX-S75-6 is designed for sealed cabinets.
