I havent bought a projection panel on ebay in over a year but I still often look around just to see what happening, I remember someone paying 500+ for a sharp 2500 and Proxima ovation 810 822 etc going for the 150-200 mark. It seems now though that penny pinching has occured and things are not selling for as much, I suspect though after people get their taxes back( you late filers LOL) the prices will go up again. anyone else think this or have a opinion?
Definately. I just bought my QA 1500 for 200 dollars (including shipping)...yeah, ouch. Although from what I hear is that prices as a whole are going up, so you could almost consider it an investment...I'm not even sure if the QA 1500 is all that good of a panel; I've heard conflicting reports on it's contrast ratio.
I've though about that too. I remeber back in november when I first really got into diy, and i was checking out projeciton panel, nview viewframe spectra c panels were going for at much a $200! My first panel i bought back then was an nview viewframe spectra plus i think i paid about $140 for. Just about a month ago i recived my nview spectra c i paid $50 for 🙂 ! Now the average price for a spectra c is around $130. I think know diyers are finding that projection panels are not enough, and selling them to buy bigger and better lcd monitors (at least that what i did). I'm Always keeping tabs on projection panels, even have updates from ebay emaild to me 🙂 . I would kill to know what the price of a sharp QA-2500 was before people foudn out what it could be used for 🙄 .
You guys were lucky to come across this wisdom of cheap projection madness 🙁
I on the other hand found out about all this just recently (One month ago). And what makes it even harder is that I live in Sweden so it's KIND OF hard buying panels from Ebay. 😱
Anyway, projection panels are almost impossible to find here in Sweden and if you do find them the prices will most likely be high up there. For example, I actually found a Infocus Proview 820 the other day in mint condition sold here in sweden by some unknown company. Guess what they wanted for it.....700 freaking dollars!
So I think I will have to buy a Nec1550v instead, because they only cost 380dollars here
So you the guys who are sitting there, holding their Spectra C panel wich they think suck and stuff, think again!
Note: As in all other posts I make, I am very sorry for the lame grammar wich I put in this forum

Oh my god, I actually found another company wich had 2 different projection panels for me at a resonably fair price. Although they are not sure about the 2 panels specifications and stuff
They had one Davis Transview Multicolour 24 panel and let me tell you, I have never heard about this one. They said some company in Norway used to make them 🙂
But they had another one too, and this one I have heard of. The Nview frame spectra. It was from 1990 had no composite or s-video input, only vga.
But I can only find information on these:
nView Viewframe Spectra C
nView Viewframe Spectra Pro
And when I asked him again if it was "C" or "Pro" version he said that the name was only "Nview frame spectra", nothing more, nothing less..
Anyone care to help me out? 😕
I need some information so I can buy one of these panels and play Zelda Wind waker on BIGSCREEN!, so come on guys help me out here!

I do not think the nview viewframe spectra is a very good buy. It is color, but i think it is like 256 colors.
Are you sure?!
Then my only hope is that weird davis panel!
I only wish that it has some nice specs so I can finally enjoy the glory of projection 🙁

Hehe I forgot to say thank you for that link you gave me.
Thank you! 🙂
I have seen some nice results with the benQ lcds but I was under the impression that they didn't display as much colors as the NEC ones...or am I just out walking blind on the railroad track?

good news... kind of... acroding the diylabs.org, the nview viewframe spectra has 4,192... Which will still give you an ok looking image for watching tv and movies.

well, if a spectra c with 100,000+ colors is going for about $120, a spectra should be about $50-$70 on ebay. I would hagle with the guy to see if you can get a good price, like $40 or somthing... Tell his the thing is old and outdated 🙂 (which it is). I personally would not pay over $50-$60 for the thing.
I really have no clue what kind of picture the thing would have, so i would tell the guy to name his price, then talk him down. Dont pay too much for it.
Thats a little too low for anyones tastes... I think you'll be happy with an lcd montior if you go that way.
Good Luck Anyway

i don't know, but I think the price goes up
