Hi Everyone,
I started a new kit based project a couple of weeks ago. Everything went along fine until I made my first attempts at flat ribbon cables with female IDC connectors on the ends.
The cables went together fine, but as it was my first time with this IDC experience, I did not realize the problems that would arise if I made them a little too long, as I would with other forms of wiring. Once that idiocy had sunk in, I tried to take the connectors off. Maybe not the best idea and one that compounded my problems.
Turns out that sourcing 2mm grid female IDC connectors in the US is beyond my skill set. Sourcing 0.100 inch grid, two row connectors is trivial, 0.079 inch (2mm) two row connectors, not so much.
I have emailed the kit provider, asking to purchase another full set, without response to date. I don't really think this is a problem he has to solve, but I did want to explore that path.
Now, I am asking for help in finding these little plastic bits, that without a source, are going to sink a $500 kit and my only project this year. Can anyone provide a source, preferably in the US, for these 10 pin, 14 pin and 26 pin female, 2mm grid, two row connectors with cable strain relief clamps?

Cable is a flat cable and the connectors are Insulation displacement connectors. The cable in question has 26 wires and a single polarity stripe. The connectors have a polarity block, are a two piece snap together body with an anvil and ID teeth. There is a snap on strain relief and yes they are very similar to flat ribbon computer connectors, but must have the Metric spacing.
454Casull can you please provide a specific link for Tyco's IDC 2mm connector's? I have yet to find any of that sort of device from them. Certainly their web site is empty of them, as are Mouser and Digi Key. Thanks for your help.
