• WARNING: Tube/Valve amplifiers use potentially LETHAL HIGH VOLTAGES.

Essential parts for tube hobbyists.

True, but it was easy to open. Wordpad came installed on all the machines back then. Think Windows 2000 and before 🙂

I've been running Linux for over 10 years now... Every time I boot Windows, it manages to urine me right off! 😀

Many of the project threads here are so long and convoluted, that it's very difficult to reproduce someone great amp or preamp. But if they kitted it up an d finalized the schematic, wonderful. I don't like Pc boards though, just me, but a kit of parts would help beginners more I think, they are daunted by 300 post threads about a great project where they can't get traction.

People had the same problem with a 682 post thread about a DAC I designed until Ray a.k.a. nautibuoy pointed out to me that whoever starts a thread can edit the first post. They can't attach anything, but they can change the text and add links. That way they can put references to the most relevant posts in the opening post.

Preliminary list

Open office can convert to pdf
And yes, it's never an excuse to publish "closed" and propetary format when one wants to be read.

In addition of being a propetary format tubes are missing. A selection of tubes is the essence
of a tube hobbyist !

I dont have a big range of values of those, the 1K and 120K are both quite useful however.

1n4148 or BAV21 diodes might be a good call indeed, the latter has one pF more capacitance and slightly higher forward voltage, but is a 200V device.

BY2000 diodes might also be good for high voltage.

Some 6P1P-EV and 6N1P and 6N1P.

Kodabmx is very right.
Russian tubes can still be found at decent prices, aka 6H6, 6E5, 6N1P (rocket logo), 6N2P ... etc. It is the "last chance".
I think their prices will skyrocket, too, soon.

Example, 12 yrs ago I bought 6 pcs D3A, 6 pcs C3G, 6 pcs C3M, and 6 psc E80L .. all for 100 euros.

Guys, think about what you need and buy fast.

Best DIYing

There's a place in Canada that sells caps and resistors in kits, along with various parts for tube projects. Just Radios is the name I think. They offer free shipping for a purchase of a certian amount, But I seldom get that much, their pricing is reasonable.
