For those of you who can read Dutch, my colleague Frank Verwaal has made a web site which documents all his experiences and calculations about electrostatic loudspeakers. He has dug into the theory quite thoroughly. You can also find my high-voltage amplifier design report there, after clicking on "hoogspanningsversterker". The HV amplifier stuff has summaries in English.

By the way, my HV amplifier was no success, because their 2000V peak output voltage was just enough for soft background music on Frank's loudspeakers. But with a better power supply and some other modifications it may be possible to boost it up to 5kV and gain 8dB.
