You weren't sure so you had to use a question mark. I'll clarify it for you, it was a related technical question on yours and eziitis' sound quality claim.political style attacks?
And you got a sarcastic answer. Will you quote it later as a sarcasm directed at you? Or, will you later use it as a weapon against him out of the context of it having been sarcasm directed at you?

Time will tell. As for the question directed at you on post #7477, "How does one figure that out?" If you had time to type your last 2 posts, would would've had time to answer, no?Will you
A lot of people prefers the old 13-14 bits TDA1540, 1543 and hates the modern 20-24bits DACs 🙂Not all DACs with low THD sound good, because it is only one factor what matters. Correspondingly none of the DACs with high THD sound good. The meaning of “sound good” is something of individual perception, since a small fraction of listeners have an addiction to the distorted sound, particularly polluted with even harmonics. I wish them very happy listening, because it is none of my business.
About ES9038 - some of my ESS based DACs have a possibility to change "on-fly" THD Compensation between:
a) "none",
b) "high harmonics" (like "tube sound")
c) "min. harmonics".
It was a surprise for me, that 40-50% prefers "none",not "minimum", (20% does not hear a difference at all).
Hi, do your instructions indicate the function of DIP switch 4 & 5 ?Yes I have found the following for the digital filter selection using the DIP switch:
Someone reported recently, "these boards tend to sound not very good in their stock form." Have you heard what the statistics was by any chance? From ~30 users.
Of course 30 is not a good statistics, but this what I have.
Thank you. I do enjoy listening to my system, especially since adding the mediocre toy.Good for you then. I would conclude, that unless one is OK with mediocre sound, the board above is just a toy for the modding hobby.
Its 30 times better than an uncontrolled subjective listening test performed by a self-proclaimed golden ear! From ~30 users.
Of course 30 is not a good statistics, but this what I have.
My question was in regards to how many users markw4 sampled to figure out how it tends to sound. No, I have never heard this board.
IIRC so far two participants in this thread like the dac sound in stock form. All the others were not satisfied with the stock sound and tried various things to improve it. A standard 3-opamp output stage, as recommended by ESS and other dac chip manufacturers, helps a lot (if implemented on the dac ground plane or an extension of it). ESS app note for their earlier dac chips directly discussed the need for a continuous ground plane between the dac chip and opamps. They also recommended AVCC decoupling and regulation be as close as possible to the dac chip. In addition they recommended that MCU power regulation be separate from dac chip regulation. Examination of ES9038Q2M evaluation board gerbers can be informative for inexperienced designers.

....self-proclaimed golden ear
Please refrain from name calling. Nobody here made such a claim except you and Mr. Harmonics. You both know you are making up a false claim against another forum member.
How did they determine the sound quality? Knowing that you won't answer, I will, it's uncontrolled subjective listening test.IIRC so far two participants in this thread like the dac sound in stock form. All the others were not satisfied with the stock sound
What part of "self proclaimed golden ear" do you take issue.with? Please refrain from name calling. Nobody here made such a claim except you and Mr. Harmonics. You both know you are making up a false claim against another forum member.
What part of...do you take issue.with?
You know very well that its the part of it that is lie, the whole thing.
