Hi All,
I have problem with my Rotel CDP855, hopefully you guys could guide me to make my player sing again.
I just changed a new old stock cdm4, but it still has the same problem, error reading disc/TOC.
Most of the capacitors have already changed, and some caps around ICs are changed from 47uf to 56uf.
The cdp play CD/CDR well before this, but one day, it just suddenly don't play, no warning or skipping & etc.
After a cd is inserted, the len swing and move up and down > then error shown on display > then the disc turn softly anti-clockwise for a while.
I adjusted the laser power & focus trimmers, no luck there.
I have read some threads here about same cdp with same error, but that did not solved my problem.
Thanks.
allen.

The problem is probably in the focus circuit.
The sequence is as follows :-
1. Laser ON
2. Find focus
3. Spin disk
As the laser is moving up and down, the laser is on.
However, focus is not being found, hence no disc spinning.
Have you tried going into test mode.
The player is Philips based.
