Equalizer as preamp

I'm setting up an outdoor system using four LM3875 amps driven by an mp3 player and a Squeezebox radio. I know I'll need some eq, and was thinking of using one of the equalizers I have hanging around as some sort of preamp. Any suggestions?

I think it would work well enough for what you're doing. I wouldn't want to get a lot of gain out of one - but for that application it should be fine.
