I have just received a delivery from Farnell of Epcos B41231 electrolytics.
Nice specification, compact relative to capacitance, cheap relative to specification and to competitors' offerings.
I shall begin by using them in the PSU of a ClassA amp and in the PSU of a high bias mosFET ClassAB amp.

Reviving an old thread! Andrew, how did you find it after using? I am about to re-capp my Denon PMA-680R with B41231A8129M. Which is 12000uF 63V.
Andrew, its well worth keeping an eye on CPC's bargain corner. I just received some of these for £2.90 (inc VAT). Vishay 4700uf 63 volt. Should be £16 each.
MAL205018472E3 - VISHAY BC COMPONENTS - CAPACITOR, 4700UF, 63V | CPC
And these 15000uf 63volt for £6 instead of £20
MAL210118153E3 - VISHAY BC COMPONENTS - CAPACITOR, 63V 15000UF | CPC
Also managed to get some of the Vishay Spectrol pots (that DS uses) for £3.59 instead of £13.
Well worth looking weekly at the offers. Every few months they have a mega clearout. I was too late with the toroids, they had gone.
There is still a lot of stuff available... have a look.

They work as expected. No misbehaviour in any of the amps.
Same good smoothing as any good capacitor will achieve.
I just don't understand the need for exotic pricing of smoothing capacitors.

I got my 12000uF/63V for approx $4USD each from element14.
B41231A8129M - EPCOS - CAP, ALU ELEC, 12000UF, 63V, SNAP | element14 Singapore
Guess its a good price too...

And yeah I also bought 15000uF/50V CDE caps for $5USD each.

Me neither. They work as expected. No misbehaviour in any of the amps.

By the way, Epcos is the new name for old German Siemens Halske, when they ripped off German machinery and installed it in China.
Same process and materials, same high quality, 1/2 the price. 😀
I've been using Siemens capacitors for close to 45 years by now, never ever failed.
