I just had a new alternator installed on my 88 Honda CRX. Before the alternator was installed, I never heard any engine noise. Now when the car is on I hear sharp popping sounds in the speakers and static. I hear this sound regardless if I rev my engine or not. The sound seems to be the worst when I am on the freeway. I thought it could be a bad alternator but I was told it was fine. I am two amps which drive my sub and other speakers. Thanks for all your help.
Common problem
The alternator has not been installed properly. You better check to make sure it is EXACTLY the same as a Honda alternator because of the special requirements of the voltage regulator. I've only seen this a couple thousand times. 🙂

I will look into that.. thanks. Here is the weird thing about the noise; I rarely hear any noise during the day. It is almost ALWAYS at night and in the mornings when the disturbance occurs. I was thinking I had a bad ground on my amplifier... I will look into that within the next couple of days. Thanks again for your help.
