I'm working on a cabinet and I've more or less got the design down-pat, but I'm having just one issue and that is time alignment between drivers.
as it stands I have the drivers all aligned, and they fit nicely, but the mid is recessed quiet far in the cabinet
My biggest issue is reflections from the baffle cone around the mid. If i made this cone into a dense foam or similar, would it help with reflections or would it hurt more than help?
The other option is to simply set the driver forward more and them time align through a DSP (which I plan to have internally along with several ICE amps for active floorstanders.)
I'm willing to bet that this forum in it's infinite wisdom has had this discussion before haha, but I had a search and couldn't find it.
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated 🙂

First thoughts are to round it over and back. You could delay it using the crossover filter, active or passive.
Do you mean using a fillet instead of a chamfer? Essentially like this?
Is that usually favourable to flat chamfers/would it not funnel the sound a bit more?
It's not ideal, but is an acceptable way to deal with this problem. The chamfer has a more pronounced break point where it ends. Your alternative may be to (de)prioritise the time alignment.

Hmm, thought I'd published my preferred solution on DIYaudio, but can't find it, but fortunately the DIY project I referenced is still on-line, so one more time.........
Foam is my 'one stop shop' for 'acoustical solutions to acoustical problems', especially when fancy woodworking is otherwise required and apparently Lars Mytting's too, though where he has a separate spaced up baffle and apparently wasn't concerned about physical alignment, his solution to craft a foam sub-cab is a great way to keep vertical spacing small when there's a deep offset:

You may want to look at Wilson Audio Speakers to see how they time align their drivers which is basically mounting drivers in their own sub enclosures.
You should not put your tweeter in between bass and mid driver. It is extremely important to keep the heart to heart distance of drivers that share the same xover frequency as small as possible.
I figured this might be the case but wasnt sure. Do you have any more info on this? I can understand the logic behind it but at the same time it seems like it wouldnt make an overly huge difference. The ascension Summoners I have have the same arrangement and they sound really clean, no noticeable artifacts
