I am thinking about purchasing some line-stage-output or Driver Tubes from EML or Kron after having read those raving review here KR 242, Elrog 300, px4, px25, EML and KR 5u4g, and KR 274b - Page 13
But before the virus of wanting something is hitting me, I thought I ask for experience of some guys who have true experience in listening AND building stuff. The colleagues in the other forum are good in rolling tubes, but thats it. They have not the ability to do cross-comparisons with NOS etc.
Nevertheless: Px4, Px25, AD1, 45 mesh and non mesh, all would be possible candidates and all are offered by eml and kron and are oviously available as wellfrom the chinese or in NOS.
Did you have a chance to compare ? Any cross-reference to as well other NOS types is highly appreciated.
And to be honest: I do have a bias. If I can get a perfect 45 or 10y for 50-80$, why should one buy tubes for 5 to 10 times the price ? EML and Kron need to sound MUCH better to justify that.
My only experience has been with some Kron tubes 20years ago...300bxls and 842...both sounded really good, but both faded away within a year...got replaced and did not last too long either....but I believe both companies made huge progress and eml is offering upto 5years waranty now...which sounds great to me...

You asked too few for those huge prices.
If a Russian military tube as GMI-11 is said to lasts 25 years in an Sukhoi-29 radar why audio tubes last only 1000 hours(1 year) or even 3 years, why not 25 years too?
I will follow this topic w/interest.
I use Russian 811a's; I built mono-blocks for friend 100 watt; after 20 years of use they still measure as new; I have had Russian 300b's dead after few months. Chinese 572b's lasted about 18 months in the same monoblocks; I have heard the present production last much longer.
