One could also buy such a circuit in asia for between €12 and €25 depending on the output power. Sometimes these circuits are capable of nearly +/- 400Vdc (so almost a very lethal 800V), but buying would take away the fun of DIY 😉
I found a 12 to 450V 100mA core at TME.EU made by ferryster in Poland TI-EF25-1068
Data on the datasheet was incomplete but i emailed them and got all the data
Flyback’s are simpler than this push pull arrangement and are supposed to have lower noise. But with theUC3843 i intend to use i may need a driver, as it doesnt have a totem pole internally
