Dear all,
I am looking for schematics from mentioned Preamp and Step-up board. Main pre is working OK, with Line inputs, but phono one have problem. Since ECMC-1 is a step-up board, I cannot check it either. I contacted mother company but they told me it is not in their policy to share such service information...
I would appreciate if someone has drawings (is OK in scan or photo) to help me out to repair it.
Best regards,
John

Maybe this page can be of some help :

This seems to be the personal website of Terje Sandstrøm who worked at EC for a long time.

You did not describe what is going on. EC preamps are running very hot.
Most of the time you can find bad caps and dry solder joints and that's it.

Phono input; right chanel is dead, left one is performing low, hardly hear. I cannot check step-up board since it is using MM part which seems faulty. I do agree with you, heat inside is too high! In some areas, printed board discolored because of this. I checked for dry joints or bad caps. But schametics are crusial for doing more targeted measurements to find weak parts and points.

Maybe I didn't describe well what I have in my hands... So, yes, MM stage is faulty. Preamp has a MM stage in its main board. Also a has connector that drives signal from RCA inputs to MM board -OR- through MC step-up board.
Pictures later this afternoon.

Thansk a lot! Have you the rest of drawings??? Maybe is a good chance to check the rest of operation, or to be ready in a future failure case!

Unit came to my ownership as a second hand. Previous owner has replace all caps with 105 deg new ones. Let's have a first look this afternoon and come back.

If you are thinking of the headamp, I'm afraid not. However, I know that the ECMC-1 is a development of the ECMC board from the EC-1 amp, they have much in common. Gives you one more option to search for, maybe.Thansk a lot! Have you the rest of drawings??? Maybe is a good chance to check the rest of operation, or to be ready in a future failure case!

Pictures I promised. Boards are almost toasted... The next big challenge is to connect all trafos' cables outside box for testing...

Clean the copper side of the boards with suitable solvent.
Check all solder joints, especially in "hot" places (semiconductors).
It may be wise to check the new caps also, can be done in circuit.

The headamp was discussed here https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/help-needed-understanding-this-prepreamplifier.363381/
