So it seems the added noise is coming from the microcontroller.
This is something you will have to play around with and see what gives the best results. And its definitely something you need to be sat in front of to work on and see what is actually happening.

On some microcontrollers, i can not use 5V, they works at 3.3v.
You could drop 1.7v off the 5v, for the 3.3v supply, with a series connected (anode to 5v cathode to the microcontroller ) Red LED, pretty easy. Budget wise its a winner, but there are of course lower noise devices such as the LT1963 regulator.
I've made further investigation, is the power line 😡 😡
