Nothing left but Chinese unknown or $2000 for Audio Note basic model . Huh ? And in the 90's it looked like Set will take the world by a storm . Nope , It's McIntosh and blue meters what the public wants
G trans has a great variety of off the shelf transformers.
Dave Slagle will custom wind.

Do you have a link to G trans?
As much as I miss Mikey, I don't miss the lead times. I agree that there are a ton of choices these days, especially compared to the 90s.

Limono,
As much as I like the old say 'stars in the sky are not what they used to be', if you're willing to pay the money, now is the best time to be alive in audio. If you want to get free stuff you are out of luck.
Chinese products have tons of potential, give it 10y for the smoke to clear and the real players to emerge even more strongly. They approach things from a different angle but these folks are no joke.

Yesterday I tested 5k SE Opts on a TSE II: Monolith against the new(ish) Antek against the Edcor GXSE10 against the old Sony/Tamradio. Aside from the current impact of materials prices, the Golden Age of OPTs is now. I'm no expert, but these Monoliths might be as good as anything that ever was. We'll see how folks feel about my results, but the Anteks, at least initially, look to perform VERY well at a great price (by contemporary terms). The Edcor was o.k., but that smaller size can't keep up. And the little Tamradio's I've found and sold a few pairs of ... well .... I'll try to get some results posted soon, but I've got a little more work to do.Nothing left but Chinese unknown or $2000 for Audio Note basic model . Huh ? I wish I had been able to scoop these up to compare! But Electraprint isn't entirely gone--Jack told me a couple of weeks ago he still has some parts to wind for folks willing to pay in line with current materials costs. Tango is an option ... if you think it is worth it to pay more than Monolith and/or want a traditional EI. On that front, SAC/Silk is also advertising good prices with a big range, and I believe they have C core and other options. I've never pulled the trigger, but they have been responsive to my inquiries. There are those hard to reach folks in Vietnam doing amorphous cores at good prices. Maybe. Toroidy is interesting, but high transaction/shipping on my side of the Atlantic. And I'm also really curious to see a link to G Trans!

These are pretty terrible. I've measured the Sony and Akai small OPTs that people rave about dropped into your typical 45 circuit, and they ain't worth the dough.the little Tamradio's I've found and sold a few pairs of ... well .... I'll try to get some results posted soon, but
I don't want a free stuff but as I scroll through sound practices look at the adverts and prices and weep 🙂.Limono,

I don't need any more trans , I have top AN silvers , C core coppers , Ei coppers , Nature Sound 50% nickel EI , Electraprint , Magnequest, top Sophia Electric , ,Plitron .
Well if find on the curb Tango or Tamura I certainly won't let it rot🙂
I tried Lundahl amorphous and I don't like the sound of that core so I'm not lusting over any high tech like Monolith.
Seems to me you have nothing to complain about. You have the full gamut of what is available. 😎
I have splurged on an Hitachi nano crystalline core OPT. It's NOT from Monolith, but it's what they call their nano-x core. I have not put it into service yet. I am skeptical about the Monolith specs; something about the response does not matching the inductance values when I compare to my Hashimotos. I would have to hear a significant difference to be interested.

It's not a complaint per se but for some reason except Dave Slage I can't associate any name in relation to those products. I'm damn getting old .
Anyone here has output transformer pair for 300B SE. I'm looking for 5K and 4 and 8 ohms taps, minimum 15W output. Something good please.
