That unit is especially and incredibly dangerous with 220 volt European mains. I assume the AC plug is the usual one with the non polarized round prongs.... If you want to restore that unit, you must install a isolation transformer first. As is, that unit can kill someone.

If the original speaker was 4 ohm (most likely), then you have optimum power and lowest distortion with 4 ohm speakers.
