Just finished clone of MARSHALL JCM800 (model 2204 with small modification) with 2xEL12N in output. Guitar sound is bether than any amp that I build before (more than 400 amps for guitar!)! First I tray with 12AX7 on first position (normal, ECC83 Philips/1977Year/NOS) with perfect sound, but have too much gain, and than try 12AY7 (Electro-Harmonics; new production) with less gain. EL12N are NOS tubes from Germany (DDR; RFT production; NOS from 1959 year!).

Yesterday I put amp in box with speaker (Celestion G12Vintage-60W/8 Ohms). Output power is >40W in normal pentod-mode and ~12W in triode-mode (screen to plate via 470 Ohms/2W).

Hi Davorin,
nice work. Respect! In Germany we would say: Geiles Gerät!

I own loads of these nice output valves. I also made a lot of guitar amps, but I never tried these valves. I should try them the next turn.

regards

Thanks! First amp with EL12(Telefunken) for guitar, I buid ~1974-'75 (SE-ClassA-8W output). I remember perfect sound of guitar from that amp. Many year I can't bay EL12 (or EL12N and EL12SPEC) anywere, but few monts ago I bay 14 tubes EL12N (from USA, hi!) and decided to build bigger and stronger amp.
