There is too sharp a transition at the edge of the driver. The front half of the sphere is largely MIA.

If you wanted a bigger effective baffle and larger effective round-over, then for sure a bigger sphere or egg would be advantageous.
This is a pure midrange intended for use up to about 2.5KHz. Even 1 octave above this crossover point
λ = (343 m/s) / (5000 Hz)
= 0.0686 m = 6.86 cm = 68.6 mm
So at the passband frequencies transition from the driver to the baffle doesn't matter.
This is same reason why some people prefer to surface mount their woofers and midranges since an abrupt 1/4" step makes virtually no difference.
For full range drivers that you prefer, for sure you'd want an appropriately small and smooth transition...
