Efficient HF horn

I am in search of some efficient (98db and up) HF horn that I could cross over at 3000 khz.

Atracted by the low price (student budget) I lean towards the FT17 from Fostex.

But in their datasheet, they do specify that recomended crossing is at 5khz.

looking at their frequency response plot, its ok down to 3000. So could I get away with a 3khz Xo, something steep, like third order?.

If you guys have any sugestions, for Xo's, or even other horns (or any highly efficient smallish tweeters) please let me know.

mail them to me..

the woofers are altec 601z

but still.. even thought I know some CTS piezos can sound good when used properly. I'm a bit reluctant to use them for something that I want to be the highest quality possible. But, they are so cheap, I could give them a second chance.

off to bed, its 4 am here 🙂

Ok, so now I have 2 canditates basicly

The fostex FT17H and the peerless 811647 HT100.

The only thing I am scared of, is that the peerless goes to 15khz in the FR on the datasheet.

Both have same efficiency. I need to cross it at 3khz and to have a maximum third order crossover.

Any shared information, either you have used one or heard one, would be greatly apreciated.
