I've heard their PCBs are very cheap - the guy who'se programmed a lot of the code for this I know quite well and a couple of years ago he sent me some PCBs when he was testing out the site. The quality seemed fine but of course I don't know that he's still using the same manufacturer.

The simulator is indeed very similar to LTSpice - that's intentional so all your existing LTSpice sims can be uploaded and hopefully still run.

It's great to see so much interest in EasyEDA here and in particular using it for simulation, so I thought it might help to explain a little about the simulator used in EasyEDA.

EasyEDA uses the Free and Open Source Software Spice (FOSS) ngspice simulator.

Whilst EasyEDA is able to directly import flat LTspice .asc schematics - and they look just like they do in LTspice - there are some things you need to be aware of and to check to successfully run them in EasyEDA.

For a quick explanation it's best to have a look at the Import LTspice section of the EasyEDA tutorial here:

Import LTspice -- EasyEDA tutorial

(BTW: since writing that section, a LIMIT function has now been made for ngspice so that it works the same way as in LTspice)

It is possible but a bit clunky to import hierarchical LTspice schematics into EasyEDA and there are also some things that are hard to do or don't yet work but for a lot of simulation work it is fine.

If you need some of the advanced features and models that LTspice offers then there's no reason not to run the sims in LTspice and then import the schematics into EasyEDA when you need to expand them into full schematics ready for PCB layout.

It is also possible to download spice netlists from EasyEDA and run them directly in LTspice (noting things like the different syntax for raising to a power: ^ in ngspice and ** in LTspice; and the log10 and natural log functions).
