I have an eclipse amp with one shorted nec k3057 mosfets in the powersupply. Perry do you have a sub component for these or can I use the irf3205 with thermal pads?
I don't know what they're using for drivers. The PA5422 photos I have (may be a similar design), appears to use an EF pair. If yours also uses an EF pair, the 3205s with suitable gate resistors should be OK.
Weird question? How do you determine a good resistance for the fate resistor. I know you said 51 makes a nice square wave on rockford amps
47 ohms is generally what's used but other values will work. In amps that use 51 ohm resistors, I won't bother replacing the gate resistors unless some are burned. If so, I go with 47 ohm. Any higher value, I use 47.
That’s a very good question..... I hadn’t drank my first pot of coffee yet!
I pulled the board and discovered the gate resistors and the rest of the amplifier ha! The gate resistors are 100 ohm. I will change them out to 47 ohm and try it out.
