Audiophile Tube Preamplifier + Tube Phono Preamplifier | eBay
Is it just me? This must be a joke. Laugh, cry or report? Check the other items.

£1000!?!? Must be that top-quality tonewood the tubes are mounted on. At least I know it has been lovingly handcrafted for maximum performance
Well he has brass cohones charging £300 for a pair of volume pots in a small wooden box!
As PT barnam didnt say "theres a sucker born every minute"

What's the problem?

Er! Well the front looks nice. But the electrical work is ugly. Hot melt glue gun to fix capacitors. MDF to mount valves. Most likely no safety testing.
Professional built gets me
You've never worked on budget gear then... all glue and Sellotape as I used to say. Looks to be a repurposed cheapo DVD chassis or similar.
Buyer beware as always 😉

I'm sorry but to me that is just grossly negligent. Two core mains with no earth, stuffed through a hole in the metal chassis with no cable gland, or rubber bushing, or anything for that matter. Then internally it looks like speaker cable was used for the mains wiring.
Its a **** show.
Its a **** show.
But, but, I thought you guys were interested in sound reproduction? You always say that you are NOT influenced by how something looks but that you can separate how it looks from how it sounds??
But now you condemn something on looks even before you took the trouble to listen??

There's a difference between being influenced by how something looks, and something being obviously low quality and unsafe. Maybe this sounds fine, but I wouldn't take the risk of connecting it to my speakers.

There's a point where life and fire safety take precedence over imagined sound quality. Especially if you are selling the device to the public at large.
And I can assure you it sounds no better, probably worse, than the commercial circuit it was copied from. It's easy to see the builder has not formal or even hobbyist level electronics training.

That looks like it is made in an old satellite TV receiver case. Ask me how I know? Putting Tube sockets on a piece of roughly sawn fibre board MDF - definitely not recommended also all that stuff held down by hot glue - bet that won't hold on the trip from Ukraine.
I didn't know there was a place called Manchester in Ukraine.
The seller is in Manchester UK, so how it got to Ukraine I don't understand.

I bet he hit a drop-list, slid down to "UK", and got UKraine instead.
The company website uses "whilst" so often and so consistently it can't be anything but United Kingdom. (And isn't it a queendom for a while yet?)

Coulsn´t care less about sound, looks or price, but mains cable through sharp edges hole drilled in steel chassis with not even a rubber grommet is *murderous*, there is no other word for it.
Can *THAT* be denounced at EBay?
Say ... "product clearly sows fire and life hazard construction, unsecured mains cable visible, NO *obligatory* device grounded as dictated by [insert British electrical safety norm here]; EBay may be co-sued in a loss of life or property action as co-author/responsible"

I have just seen the internal pictures, shocking assembly, possibly lterally shocking for the sucker that buys it.
I just loved how carefully the tubes are mounted on that particle board ? board.
Such attention to detail and quality parts just leaves me speechless. Should we
contact him about a group buy ?

My favourite from this seller is this excerpt from their "Silver Audio Interconnects"
So what are they? Silver or copper? Schrodinger's cables?
These cables were made using 99.9% purity soft silver (the purest can be found in Europe) with an audiophile quality polymer RCA Bullet type plugs (that considered to be ones of the BEST for analogue connections) are plated with REAL gold and are REAL 100% red copper for purest possible signal path.

they are indeed in Manchester
Professionally Hand Made Audio Products, Passive Preamplifiers, Silver RCA Cables, Silver Mains Cables, Audiophle DACs
I hope they’re insured.
Perhaps a good samaritan in the UK could report these buggers to the H&S lot.

Really. I see a well-thought out layout.
But the point remains that you guys judge it to sound bad based on how it looks. Not that this is new, but it normally is vehemently denied.
And why would a steel plate be better than hardboard? At least the latter insulates.
