I've dug through a number of posts on input selectors for a preamp.
I'm trying to do something quick and dirty, but with the potential to be worthwhile. As such, do folks have advice on using the following board as an input selector linked to a preamp?

2 of these boards will allow you to select any one of 8 input stereo channels into a preamp, suitably controlled.
You have some problems tho'.
The power supply for this is 12vac. This is not compatible with a PIC which will work with 5VDC nominal. Plus you have the problem of programming the PIC.
Why do you want to use a PIC? It will let you set up a system with a single push switch which will cycle through a number of inputs, but things will be simpler if you just have a 8-way rotary or other selector which you can yoke the 2 boards to, probably paralleling their outputs without complication.

On the theme of PIC's this is ACE for a PIC project, letting you add remote control... the best I have ever come across... and it works faultlessly. Check out the modes it can be used in... BiToggle for example.

Actually, it looks very nice.
I am using similar design on my preamp. The only problem I see is the quality of the relays. Here you get everything for $15. I paid $6 for each relay from mouser.

It looks like it's using transistors to switch the relay current, so it shouldn't be too hard to interface with PIC or other logic.
I'd be tempted to move the AC away from the audio. Maybe the rectifier diodes etc can be moved off-board.

The posted PIC site is beyond my abilites. The comment about 12V vs 5V is a good one.
Let me rephase the problem:
I'd like a remote controlled input selector capable of volume control too. I'd thought the way to go was a PIC and relays, but I'm open to suggestion. Ideally, I'd like to buy PCB or a kit. Is there such an animal?
