Ebay F4 F5 F6

Just sent him the following....

Please tell me where you think you have the right to take a design which has been freely donated to the public domain and try to profit of the original designers work.

Nelson Pass has made it clear that any of his Firstwatt designs are to be built by suitably capable DIYers. The explicit understanding has always been that the amps be sold for the cost of parts only with limited money accounting for labour.

Should you choose to negotiate a deal privately with an individual for the purpose of assisted build is not my business and you can charge what you wish.

As someone actively involved in the community and who has built multiple Pass designs your asking price is well beyond cost of materials and is taking liberty with a scarcely granted privelage.

Please reconsider this item posting and your chosen business model. I will allow a short period of time before I report this item to ebay for intellectual property violation.

Regards

He just got back to me and makes the point about original msrp. I dont think he understands the terms in which these designs were provided. Made him aware Nelson knows and that its Mr. Pass' perogative how to proceed.

Is it worthwhile to attempt to report the listing?

Hi There
I am just approaching 70 years old I have always been a lover of Electronics as a hobby plus i do enjoy the build.
I have always treated this as a hobby.
I am quite sure Mr pass if he was not happy I think he would get in contact with me. I have a deep respect for him and his beautiful design's.
I am quite sure he has seen what i have done and i would not cheapen the price of these beautifully designed amplifiers.
There are many people who don't know anything about electronic's at all and they don't want to either but do know they would love one of these amplifiers. I am constantly promoting his work to many people
I am happy for you to send this on to Mr Pass if you wish. All my intention's are totally Honorable.
Kind regards Joe

All i can say to Mr Pass is Due to what has happend and been said i will take of all the units relating to your name and i will just sell or auction them of as class a amplifiers.
My Kindest regards to all JoeH283.

They're from China. I recognize them from several sellers. Search for "aluminum class a chassis."

Well, no. Thats a stereo case and the search brings up the usual boxes, some of them with tasteless design. I meant those in the attached picture.

BRAND NEW HAND MADE PASS F6 CLASS A AMPLIFIER | eBay

my take is this...when NP kindly (thanks Nelson) publishes his designs and shares it with diy community, its ok to make an amplifier for yourself or close friend

to make multiple copies for profit to use someone else's name and fame is despicable
simple as that
