Fairchild have manufactured 2SC5200/A1943 since 2007. We have already seen some really obvious, bad Fairchild logo fakes of these in threads here on DIYaudio. Actually, supply can be better with the essentially identical and cheaper FJ4215/4315 clones, manufactured since 2004. These type numbers, I think, won't be be so attractive to suppliers of fakes either.

Fake problems though, are with your supplier's integrity, not the manufacturer. If you want genuine parts, buy them from genuine agencies, not the local shop who naturally buys the cheapest stuff from any source available to maximise his profit whilst remaining competitive. He probably has no corporate reputations to protect and a local monopoly, so why should he care?

Note that the smaller die in TTC prefix parts does not mean underwattage, particularly in audio applications. The power ratings are the same and they are both genuine Toshiba parts with different part numbers to distinguish them anyway, so where will the bad reputation come from? Don't forget that even the large and expensive Sanken MT200 style transistors (shown in your pic of an assembled Megatech amp) have small die too - similar to those in cheaper TOP3 packages too. The heat spreader is also an important component of power transistors, affecting dissipation that is sometimes ignored in assessing device performance.

Overall though, If you can read a datasheet and SOA graph properly, there should be no misunderstanding or doubts with genuine maximum device dissipation and power ratings.

Im not saying that transistors are expensive Im saying that shipping is expensive
If I order more than 100euro and get free shipping I will pay customs in my coutry 100euros
Order must be less tha 50euros than there is no customs fee

I ordered 30 pairs of MGs from element14 (farnell) for about $170 so shipping was free, although transistors came from the UK, but element14 has an office in Australia. I hope these transistors are no fakes but I will not know until I use them at full power.

cheers,

Take a hammer and brake transistor You will see if its original if the silicon chip is big

If transistors are 100euros I will need to pay customs fee in my country another 100 euros so it doesnt look good
