"mac monitor to vga converter"?
Is that one of those adapters that lets you plug a mac monitor onto your pc and vice versa? I thought those just re-arrange the pins...

because the main reson that regular video card cant accept the vga mod is because most of them dont accept csync.
mac monitor are csync
so therefore the converter converts csync to hsync + vsync

Actually hsync is also used for csync, here's the pinouts. http://pinouts.ru/data/VGA15_pinout.shtml The problem with the ps1 screen the the refresh rate more than anything.

Have you tried that yet? Not the easiest, doen't matter anyway it's a usless mod for a 320X240 low res display. Doesn't matter if you get 640X480 to display on it it's still only 320X240. Just not worth the hassle.😉

well i dont really notice screendoor effect. its not really that bad.
im just tired of composite. the quality sucks. so i want to use the rgb settings. but i need it hooked to my computer.
the only reason i need it to my computer is so i can tweak the settings brightness, contrast, etc...........

Composite usually does give quite mediocre quality. How about trying S-video on it? The playstation outputs composite, svideo, and rgb... look for the pinout at pinouts.ru (yes, the same site posted by Clinton, possibly the best pinout site there is...)
Also - when using SVIDEO on my video card, and having my pc at 640x480 with video mode enabled, I get a "vga" looking image, perhaps abit softer... I think that while the RGB mod may give a slight boost in brightness, i think its just not worth it. Do many games and stuff like that support interlaced modes?
Cheers,
Alex
