Inspired by a project from a website, I did some experiments:
8 wires: Twist 4 times 2 wires cw - twist 2 times 2 strands ccw - twist 2 new strands ccw
16 wires: cw - ccw - cw - cw
32 wires: cw - ccw - cw - ccw - ccw (did not go so far but it should work)
Twisting is alternating but the last 2 steps must be done in the same orientation.
That gives a nice rope with evenly round shape. Of course twisting must be evenly.
The fat cable is made from 16 cheap speaker cable wires.
The thin one made from 8 silver plated copper litz wires with teflon.
Do not use a drill for the first twist because that puts torsion on the wires.
Any thoughts on that ?
