The power supply is separate from the preamp - connected vis an umbilical cord 5 ft long. There isn't a ground running from the power supply to the preamp. All voltages on the preamp check out fine. The problem I'm having is hum that gets louder when the volume is turned up and at q10 o'clock I get a thumping sound like a motor boat. Any help diagnosing this problem would be greatly appreciated. LOOKING FOR YOUR HELP, PLEASE!
You'll have to post photos and a schematic of the actual complete circuit that you have,
and also what you mean by "no ground" between them.
Is this one of the Chinese boards available, or a one of a kind?

That is enough info. Also no pictures so we can all more or less predict what this will look like. There isn't a ground running from the power supply to the preamp.
How can people expect help without giving any picture or details of what they created themselves (so a unique device only they know)? Do they think we are magicians that can read their gear by telepathy?
Too easy Jan. Anyone that has an issue when DIYing anything should be able to hand out information what he/she has built. I can imagine text to be too much of a hassle and apparently the problem is above their head so they ask others (all fine)....but taking and attaching a picture really is the least of efforts.
Anyone with 2 brain cells knows others can not see the device and how should they then be able to say anything useful? In fact I think it is offensive to deal with others like that when it really is about ones own interests. It should be "give and take".
My dish washing machine has started to make a noise, Jan. It is a stainless steel 230V version. Do you know what the problem is, Jan?
