Hi,
I have an odd problem with the arm lifter.. I think....
The headshell drops to quickly now when being lowered by the lifter. It used to float down gently.
Does this mean the lifter needs repair or is this an issue with vertical damping?
Should I even be worried about it?
Any help would be very appreciated!
Thank you all on this wonderful site in advance !

The silicone damping fluid in the lifter needs replacement.

Fyi damping fluid arriving Jan 29.
I have until then to figure out how to open the lifter and clean out the old fluid.

Because you said it was working previously, did you happen to adjust the lifter position recently? If you overtighten the setscrew you can warp the cylinder and may need to replace it. It doesn't need to be very tight. If not then I'd continue with previous advice.
*I'm not familiar with that particular TT, just a general statement so YMMV.

I could not resist. This is what the bottom of the pillar looks like. The two opposing screws hold the plate to the cylindrical lifter housing. I assume that you remove the bottom completely and fill it up? Or do you take out the set screw? I'm clueless.... I took it all apart...There is no washer anywhere .... It's just aluminum.....
thanks!
thanks!
