Hey all!
I recently aquired a set of Dynaudio MSP 200's while roaming a second hand store. They looked questionable since the Woofers where swapped with a set of noname drivers with shot membranes but since the Cabinets and tweeters where flawless + price was irresistable i took them with me.
Now im trying to replace the Woofers with a worthy alternative. It would be nice to keep the looks original and use the original mounting holes, since the cabinets are in near mint condition.
-Since the cabinets are almost 40 years old i was wondering if it would be a good idea to change the capacitors of the crossovers too? If yes, are there any suggestions? PP, Elko? Specific Brands (Ideally with good availability in EU)?
-Is there a noticeable difference between a 24w100 and a 24w75? Spec wise they look quite similar. I would be able to aquire a set of 24w100 4 Ohm and possibly also 8ohm for a good price wich also leads to my next question:
-Lojzek mentioned the Volvo Dynaudio woofers as a possible replacement. For me they would be a neat replacement. The domes look similar, there are plenty around, the Price is reasonable and i think Lojzek mentioned the Mounting holes are also identical to the original 24w's. BUT they are all 4Ohm speakers. I was wondering if this would have a negative impact on the tweeters, crossover frequencys/ resistors or the general performance in any kind of way besides the higher load on the amp?
Looking forward to your Answers!

Woofer replacement 9’, same technology, almost same qts, but expensive for this kind of repair :
https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-8-woofers/morel-caw938-9-woofer/
capacitors are usually almost in 5% tolerance even in old dynaudio crossovers so no need for replacement
check the tweeter ferrofluid
volvo dynaudio are 4 ohms, so you need to modify the crossover
i would wait for a second hand dynaudio or morel 8 ohms replacement on ebay
good luck!

Whatever you decide to do, make sure you get a drive unit in an excellent working condition, as if it were actually new.
I see there is a 24W100 on ebay.de for sale, claimed to be in excellent condition, but look closely what the blue aluminum former looks like!
Prices are ridicilous.

is the only difference between the 24w100 and the 24w100 xl the rubber surround on the xl vs foam on the original ? the xl is used in the dynaudio bm15a and bm15 passive
Thanks a lot for the replies guys! 😀
@aperiodic:
I read about the Morel's (265, 266 and the CAW's) the CAW's would require me to route out the Cabinet because of the cast Frame. Otherwise id be unable to fit the original cover ring's back on so... Id rather not do that. The older 265 or 266 might be a possible candidate but i think Loj wrote about a different (smaller) bolt circle? They are also quite hard to come by used in Germany. Didn't even find any listed on ebay while looking em up. But thx for the hint! If everything Dynaudio fails, i will go the Morel route.
@nr12:
That would be great! 😀 If you can actually find em, PM me your phone number (Im not able to write PM's yet) and a time your available and i'll give you a call, if your ok with that.
@Lojzek:
You are talking about the ultra rare "12 mounting hole edition", right? 😉 Yeah your right about the prices. Thank you for all the info's you previously posted btw. Helped me a lot to wrap my head around the whole Dynaudio stuff!
@jccart:
I have datasheets for the 75 and 75xl if you are interested. I suppose the canges made to the 75's apply to the 100's as well. Just PM me.

Hey all,
Its been a while (and quite a journey) to source all the materials needed but my MSP200's are finally done!
Nr12, who kindly provided a set of drivers for the Project, asked if i could share some updates about the progress so i documented the refoam process. I will post a detailed follow up within the next days!
Thanks again for the your tips!
