Dynaudio 1.3se
We will see about the $$$. I'm thinking that they probably don't even have any parts but may find a current product that I may be able to drop in. I need the magnet assembly as well as the voice coil unless I want to try to glue the old parts together. Still, I bet you're right - big bucks for any solution that is direct from Dynaudio, so thanks for the Seas tweeter recommendation. So you don't have any brand/product preference? A tweeter is a tweeter so long as the specs are close?

I found this one - Morel MDT32S 1" Textile Dome Tweeter . It was recommended as a 28/2 replacement. It looks like it should drop into the same mounting holes.
I'd give that Morel MDT32S 1" Textile Dome Tweeter, Aluminum Face Plate, Rear chamber a whirl, if the price is right! LOL
It seems to match at every level. You might get away with an unmatched pair, IMO. And I have the PDFs. Including 5R DC resistance and 1kHz Fs. Morel have always done replaceable voice-coils and ferrofluid is easy enough to buy down the road. Level matching is easy enough by changing a resistor if required.
AFAIK, Morel have always paid a royalty to Scan and Dynaudio to reuse certain patents. All toilers in the same vinyard. LOL.

I received the Morel tweeter and installed. Big difference! Makes me wonder when the original tweeter actually failed or if it ever worked. It was giving off a little sound - maybe 10% of what it should have. Kind of surprising given the top plate was pinching one side so hard. I also called Dynaudio and a new one is $264 - ouch. Still wondering if I should pull the trigger on that one. If I ever want to sell it for a decent price it seems like I'll have to make it all Dynaudio.

Is the "big difference" a positive ? Are you happy with how they sound now? If so you may as well leave them as is. I haven't had much to do with Dynaudio speakers but it could be that failure of the tweeter is a common occurrence in that model. Consider that you can buy some truly excellent tweeters for $264.00 a piece!!!
BDS4, I think you have done well there. This Morel MDT32S 1" Textile Dome Tweeter, Aluminum Face Plate, Rear chamber seems remarkably similar to the D28-2. I was just trying to guestimate if any level adjustment is required.
Looks like the Morel is a 90dB tweeter, and the D28-2 is 88dB. 2dB is quite a lot really. You really need to trace the schematic to see what the best way to fix that might be, IF it is noticeable... 🙂
Usually every ohm you add in front of a 8 ohm nominal tweeter takes level down 1dB. You can also add a shunt across the tweeter around 22R if there is already some series resistance.

Just to close my problem out, I also ordered from Dynaudio a replacement ($195) tweeter and was told it was a D260. When it arrived, it was labeled and looked exactly like the original Titan 28/2 tweeter. Popped it in and it works great. I could tell the Morel was hotter as the treble went down a little when I replaced it with the D260. Very satisfied with the resulting sound.

$195 is not even a bad price at all. A D260 was more expensive (at least here) when they were freely available for DIY.
