Dynacord speaker matching advice.

Hi all.

I have come to this forum (this is my first post) looking for some advice.

I am looking to buy two new tops for my PA system which I use in a 4 piece rock/pop band playing all sizes of venues from small to large.

I am using a Dynacord PM2600 power amplifier along with Dynacord Forum line speaker system comprising of 2x F-17PWH subs and 2x F-1153 Hi. I am really surprised at the 'whack' this cracking system can deliver even in larger venues and I believe this is due to the 'horn loaded long throw' aspect of the speakers.

However the system is old and I want to replace the tops (as the high end simply isn't as good as it should be although the horns/tweeters are not gone/blown) but I need some advice as to which speakers would work as well with the components I already own (i.e. PM2600 amp and F-17PWH subs).

I have been looking at the Dynacord D15 3 D-Lite series and the "'very expensive'' Dynacord Variline systems.

Can anyone please advise me?

Many thanks in advance. 🙂

P.S. A cheaper alternative may be to change out the horns and tweeters for new ones but I have not looked into this option much as of yet as the system is old and I cannot seem to find replacements anywhere.

Hi cheers for the PDF djk.

As it turns out the HFT 2508 slot radiator tweeters was gone in both cabnits so I need to change them. However I am having trouble finding replacements as the system is old.

Anyone know where I could pick up a pair of HFT 2508 slot radiator tweeters?

The hunt continues....
Cheers....

Have you checked the tweeter fuses? (V001, a 1.25A fuse)

Looking at the schematic, before I would shell out EUR 59,00 each for diaphragms, I would try this:

Yank the tweeter fuse.

Jump R002~7 with a series connected 2.2µF~2.7µF and 40µH inductor, this will remove the attenuation at VHF so the DH6 will go all the way up. I use that driver with CD horn EQ and have never used a tweeter.

@djk: Thanks again. I really do appreciate your help. I see that schematic now in the 2nd post.

I checked the fuses and they are ok. So I'm now hunting for the diaphragms. Can you send me on the link to the inexpensive diaphragms you managed to find? I think I would prefer to replace them rather than try boosting the circuit if possible. I just not that good with electronics. I have however changed diaphragms before and am comfortable doing it...

Many thanks for you continued support djk.... 🙂

I just compared photos, and the inexpensive ones are not the same.

The only ones I have found that claim to fit are the ones I found in post #4.

There might be a way to use the cheaper ones, but I would need to have the tweeter in front of me to check and see.

Most of these use some varient of the JBL2402 technology.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
