Dynaco 6V6 PP to guitar amp

hello guys

Some time ago I built this amplifier, from a Dynaco schematic, it is a stereo 6v6pp, the question is, what should I change to make it work for guitar? I don't know what impedances guitars handle but I would appreciate if someone could guide me a little. thank you so much!!

Well if you were going to do a major rebuild with the same tubes you have, you could do something like: 12AX7 common cathode - 12AX7 concertina - 6V6 PP or 12AX7 common cathode - 12AX7 common cathode - 6V6 self split PP. That's a major rebuild but using the same tube type and quantity would allow much to be reused.

The OP schematic power section is basically the same as fender and marshal except that it doesn't have the presence and grid for the lower LTP section is driven off the cathode of the power EL84s.

EL84s are quite bright sounding so speaker coupling and pre-stage design may want to take that into account but there's plenty of guitar el84 amps you can borrow from.

Yes, use it as a building block, just add the tone stack (preamp): only 1 tube (2 x triodes, far left in any of the linked schematics) and Bob's your uncle.
Worry about the phase splitter (LTP or paraphase) later, or not at all.

PS: btw, the 6V6's are often used in old radar equipment. I bought quite a few NOS, very sweet price, with official army seal, from some military surplus stores. 🙂
