I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered but I couldn't find it in my search.
Which current DVD players have separate digital audio out?
I want to run digital audio to a 24/96 DAC.
Thanks for any assistance.

Don't all dvda players have digital out?
You will not get 24/96 out of it though, probably only 16/48 or nothing.

I dunno. I seem to recall reading on another list a couple of years ago that there is/was a Pioneer model that allowed 24/96 audio out and that other brands did not.
I claim no expertise whatsoever. Just looking for info.

Pioneer yes
Hello,
My pioneer (dv-747a) outputs 24/96 with all media, except SACD.
Even normal audio cd's are sampled up.
I don't know about other brands.
Be aware that SACD never sends digital out, wich is for copy protection.

I do not think so, first off dvda and dvdv with more then 16/48 typically do not allow (due to copy protection) more then 16/48 on the digital output.
The menu gives you a hint, try setting spdif downconversion to off and play a native 24/96 source....you'll typically get nothing on the digital out.
Secondly I do not know of ANY player upsampling anything to 24/96 on spdif out.
Hello,
there is a special "iLink" output for high resolution digital audio. Thru ordinary spdif coax you will always get standard CD resolution, if any signal.
Cheers
Christian.

Hi,
My manual of the pioneer says:
- If you listen to multichannel dvd-audio through one of the digital outputs, it will be downsampled to stereo. Also, high sampling rate dvd-audio (192khz or 176.4khz) will be downsampled to 96khz, 88khz, 48 khz or 44.1 khz, depending on the disc. Multi channel and high sampling rate dvd-audio is only available through the analog outputs. Some dvd-audio and all sacd audio is output only through the analog outputs.
Other media is also upsampled through the legato link of the pioneer. (like wadia)
