DVD 5910 Laser replacment help?

Hi,

I got a dvd 5910 to use for dvd-audio and redbook cd playback but the laser is bad. does anyone have experience/tips for replacement of this laser? (I found a youtube video of a guy replacing a laser on a dvd 2930, so I bet it will be similar, but he had a hard time getting the laser adjusted perfectly so I thought I would ask first.

Have you got the test equipment to adjust the laser?

Htguy, make sure the laser has failed. I have bought a Denon dvd-5000 and 9000 that the owners said the laser failed. Both units had operating lasers, but the alignment was the culprit. Not sure if there is any adjustments on your transport(?).

So I am back to trying to get this unit working. I went ahead and put a new laser into it. I still cannot get it to read the disks. You can see video of what I am talking about here: https://youtu.be/l3l_OpmD2DY

I have the two players denon dvd 3910 and denon dvd 2900
And switched between them the laser Without problem.
If you buy a new laser
Make sure you remove the shorted solder bridge from the new laser

Thnks. I did order and install the hop1200s laser (and I removed the solder from the two spots). On your 3910, does your mechanism start spinning right away and keep spinning? (If you look at the youtube video you can see how my 5910 is acting)

There are a few things you should check
1 Is SACD discs workers
2 Are Disks DVD workers
3 Is the CD workers
Concrete example
In my case about my project on the DENON 3910
One of the change i do in the audio circuit
I removed the SN74LV157 ( Data Selectors )
As a result of the PURE DIRECT circuit
did not work.
And CD discs did not work. and dvd\sacd work
I returned back to the SN74
To circuit
And discs of the CD worked.
My experience on my own projects

Not always what it really meets the eye is the problem
