Duralast Battery Problem

Johnson Controls / Amaron / Yuasa / Hitachi are popular in India, and Far East Asia.

Duralast is a trading brand, sourcing is from different makers, including Johnson Controls and Exide.
Their ads are stupid, as if we don't know we have one nose and two eyes...all lead acid batteries use absorbent glass mat design, and are flooded.
Odyssey is not sold in India in large volumes.

It is always a good idea to check the wiring and generator / alternator / charging system when replacing battery.

Johnson Controls made the Bosch and AC Delco batteries here, apparently the interior build and electrolyte were inferior to their own Amaron branded product.

AC Delco and Bosch are scrap quality, avoid.

In the eastern USA(?), nearly all mass-market lead-acid batteries come from one factory.

"East Penn Manufacturing. A private, family-owned company operating the largest single-site, lead battery manufacturing facility in the world."

Because of pollution concerns there probably won't be any more new factories.

EastPenn contracts with sellers for the price, quality, and brand. Walmart wants a 7-day-warranty $19.97 teaser batt so WP just buffs-up rejects and stamps "GV" on them. Accura wants a 7-year new car luxury batt and WP figures all the angles and formulas. (Even my Accord batt lasted 7 years, but they wanted $130 for another.)

We only rent batteries; paid in full up-front but pro-rated for premature death. Go by warranty and price. 5 or 6 years on a car you are keeping.
