At pass diy they have the Zen v4 PCB's for sale and also a Zen v4 Q Pack. What's the Q Pack consist of? Haven't heard that term.
Thanks
Thanks
Actually the "Q" pack is all the semiconductors, with
IRFP044N for Q1 and IRFP240's for the other two
power Mosfets, and includes the diodes.
IRFP044N for Q1 and IRFP240's for the other two
power Mosfets, and includes the diodes.
So it is better to use IRF240's for Q2 and Q5 and a IRFP044 for Q1? If Q5 dissipates around 20W and Q2 the same as Q1 why is this change? More bias? What is the package of Q2 and Q5 in the Q Pack, are they T03?

Not better. For the current source and supply
regulator, we don't need the high transconductance
of the 044, and we have tons of 240's.
The pacakges are the "TO-3P" plastics.

Pl excuse my ignorance, but I read in several threads that MOSFETs do not need to be matched for Zen4 😀 Why is pass labs offering the Q pack then 😕
We want to make it easy for you to complete your projects. Just for convenience. No hidden agenda, the mosfets do not need to be matched in Zen 4. The Q pack also includes the "sil-pads" needed to insulate the T0-3P's.
relder: That term was just made up, I thought it was rather clever.

When I bought SilPad 2000 a while back I had to do a minimum order from Bergqvist which was a little ridiculous ...
This is once again a very good service from Pass Labs. I wish others would be 10% as forthcoming

I had already sent in my check for the Q pack, was just curious as to why (should Pass Labs) take all the botheration when components are readily availavle on digikey. This explains everything.
Thanks again!
jag, this components arent that easy avaiable everywhere in the world; and DIY community seems to be a very very international one.
Not to mention that the TO-3 parts aren't really easy to come by, compared to the TO-220 parts. And now for a dumb question, on the order site, it states $50 for a pair of PCBs and $50 for a pair of Q-Packs, I assume that means the PCBs and transistors todo a stero amp?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I clicked on the search tab at the top of the page and typed in

$50.00 for two boards, $50.00 for one "Q" pack which includes the semi's for both boards. Stereo....

Herm,
thanks for the search, answered my question🙂
I got confused bout this cos Ive seen the same looking packages called TO247 and TO3P, The one and only states they are the same.

Okay, now I have the sil-pads (part of Q pack). Do you need to apply thermal grease to sil-pads?
Thanks.

So another dumb question, that means $100 for boards and semis for stereo operation?
I think this last question should really nail it down. 🙂
