folks i need some help. last 2 weeks i have been reading and watching youtube rmaf show talks on dsd topic .
sounds like a real winner and i want to jump in.
i can't seem to find these answers to the questions i have. can any of you fill me in? here is what i have now.
pc with windows xp for mp3 and flac files
cheap ebay diy 24bit/192khz dac
what do i need for items to start a system?
is windows xp ok for direct streaming digital?
i use foobar now will this handle dsd audio?
what is needed for a dac to handle dsd?

Mytek uses ES9018 for its DAC and this chip converts DSD to a 6bit oversampled/noise shaped signal. Looks like PCM to me.
Very few DACs are 'pure' DSD in terms of not processing the signal before the DAC's output.

i know the mytek is a good one but i don't want to spend 1200 on this till i'm sure the dsd is the way to go.
this one is from a ebay seller i have bought from in the past and my current dac is from him.
it is very good for $150
have a look at this one please and tell me if you think it will be good for a first

I've heard that PCM5102 is a decent-sounding DAC chip, as integrated ones go, so long as you pay attention to the power supply decoupling. On this implementation they don't appear to go far enough. There are a few ceramics under the chip but if I had this I'd add a LOT more 😀
