I have a DS1807 chip being controlled by an Arduino and a mechanical pot. The circuit is working and the chip is reporting back the correct wiper positions.
However, when I connect any of the digipot pins to the output of either pickup in the guitar, I get a loud hum. Sounds like a ground issue, but much louder. The guitar has active pickups. I've tried powering the Arduino from different sources and still get the same result.
Any ideas why? I can post a wiring diagram if needed.
